River Usk – Abergavenny Town Water
Description
Abergavenny Town water as it has been historically known and was managed by Monmouth Council until 2019 when Gwent, ISCA , and MTAA took over the running of the beat as a joint venture.
It has proved hugely successful and is an excellent trout fishery. There are several salmon catches along the beat the bridge pool at Llanfoist being the most popular.
Location & Parking
The beat starts at what is known as the town or Llanfoist bridge over the Usk and is on both right and left banks.The Left bank ends above the locally known sewer bridge that carries the main trunk sewer across the river and the riht bank below the Heads of the Valleys road bridge . The map shows the extent. Parking is in Linda Vista Gardens on the left bank of the river accessible from Tudor street. There is very limited parking due to restriction by the bridge. Further parking is available adjacent to the Heads of the valley road bridge in the lay by when traveling towards Abergavenny. Our map of the Town water gives more detail.
