Description

The River Tarrell rises above the Storey Arms in the Brecon Beacons and flows down to the market town of Brecon where it joins the River Usk.  This small tributary of the river Usk is a truly wild trout fishery the river is over-shaded and offers technical and challenging small-stream fishing. The fish that inhabit this river are wonderful wild brown trout.

Fish Limit

• 4 trout per rod, per day, however, the Alliance encourages the practice of catch & release.
• Size limit – 10″/25.4cms from tip of snout to tip of tail.

Location & Parking

This fishery is situated at the village of Libanus on the A470 between Merthyr Tydfil and Brecon. It offers approximately ¾ of a mile of double bank fishing for small wild brown trout.

Access from the main road is via the Public Right of Way beside the chapel. On reaching the bridge over the river, there is a short length downstream on the west bank.

From here it is double bank fishing up to the stone bridge, and from the stone bridge half a mile of single east bank upstream. The river itself is hard fishing.
